GRAMMAR NOTE: In the second verse, it would be more grammatically correct to say "Limpiamos al gato" rather than "el gato." In Spanish, the pronoun "a" is used when the object of a sentence is a person or a pet. For example, you can say "Veo la luna" ("I see the moon"), but you're supposed to say "Veo a la mujer" ("I see the woman"), because the second sentence features a human being as the object. Not using the pronoun "a" with "gato" in our song makes the cat sound less "personified" and almost like an inanimate object rather than a pet. In this case, we chose not to be strictly grammatically correct in favor of consistency and in order to reinforce the definite articles "el" and "la".
